Bülent Tezkan received a degree in Geophysical Engineering in 1982 from the Technical University of Istanbul, Turkey and a PhD in 1986 from the University of Göttingen, Germany. From 1986 to 1999, he worked as a Research Scientist at the University of Göttingen, at the Alfred-Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research in Bremerhaven, and at the University of Cologne. His research has focused on magnetotellurics, the earth and sea tides, and on the application of electrical and electromagnetic methods to environmental problems. Since 1999, he has been a Professor of Geophysics at the University of Cologne and the Head of the Applied Geophysics Group, where he continues his research on electromagnetic techniques for imaging shallow and deep earth structures. He is a member of DGG, SEG, and EAGE.
